Bartholomew Fanti was born at Mantua, the year is unknown. By 1452 he was already a Carmelite priest and instituted an association of lay people under the patronage of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He served as spiritual director and rector of the Confraternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary for which he composed a rule and statues. Bartholomew was deeply devoted to the Blessed Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary, and gave himself as an example to a life of prayer, generosity, humility, and faithful service to the Lord. He was a spiritual teacher of Bl. John Baptist Spagnuolo, and a noted preacher and healer known to often work spectacular miracles and cures of the sick. He died December 5th 1495.
